Every practitioner is different. A session with me will start with greetings and some catch-up chitchat, how things have been and how they’re going for you in this moment. Then we’ll do a simple grounding exercise, after which we’ll figure out together what our focus will be in this particular session. That might involve a fair amount of talking as we identify the specific focus, or we might be able to get straight into actual tapping. When we’ve got about 5-10 minutes left, I’ll let you know and we will wrap the particular focus area up. We’ll do a Sneak Away round of tapping —that just means we are letting your nervous system know it’s ok to step back for the moment, that we acknowledge we might not have completely resolved everything, but it’s safe to pause and put everything away. Kind of like a craft project. Then we’ll identify an action that feels safe and productive for you to do in between sessions (assuming there will be another). The final step is me asking four feedback questions from you; this is your chance to tell me what is and isn’t working, what is making you feel comfortable and/or uncomfortable.

Honestly, it probably looks pretty weird—but maybe that’s not quite what you’re asking. We start by tapping on the side of the hand while saying a setup phrase that you and I will figure out together, then we go through the rest of the tapping points, with me leading and saying the phrases first, and you following and repeating. The rest of the points are usually 1) the top of the head, 2) the start of the eyebrow, 3) the side of the eye, 4) under the eye, 5) under the nose, 6) under the mouth, 7) below the collar bone and 8) below the armpit. I say usually because there are other points that can be added in. That’s called a tapping round. After a round, we check in to see how things are feeling and decide where to go from there.

Getting started is simple. Reach out through our contact form to schedule a call—it can be as short as a few minutes if you just want to ask a question or two, or you can book a longer time to talk and have a free experience of tapping.
